IPL Pigmentation treatment is a non-ablative procedure that uses intense pulsed light to target melanin in the skin, heating and shattering the brown pigment. Damaged melanin is then removed either via the lymphatic system, or micro-crusts on the surface of the skin and naturally sloughs off, resulting in a more even skin tone. Typically, this treatment is used to spot treat areas of pigmentation.
How it Works
Our advanced treatments break down excess melanin, allowing the body to naturally clear pigmented areas while stimulating skin renewal and collagen production. IPL Pigmentation treatment requires minimal downtime. Depending on the extent of the client's concern, typically 2-4 treatments are recommended at monthly intervals (face), or 6 to 8 week intervals (decolletage, arms or upper back), with maintenance treatments recommended every 6 months to 1 year.
Pigmentation treatment is accomplished through heating and breaking down the melanin whilst retaining the integrity of the surrounding tissue. The shattered pigment will either crust away via the surface or be absorbed via the lymphatic system.
